The World Adventure Travel Summit is the biggest event of the year for adventure travel professionals who work and play like no other industry. Approximately 800 tour operators, destination representatives, adventure travel writers and thought leaders from around the world come together as a like-minded community to explore travel trends, celebrate milestones and develop new connections. The Adventure Travel World Summit 2023, held in Hokkaido, Japan, which took place between September 11 and 14, was quite an experience for Aysen Journeys. Represented by our director Paula Christensen, the event had a strong participation of businessmen, exhibitors, tourism figures and travel journalists from all over the world. Paula, who actively participated through a speech about what it is like to run a family business in Chile (also with her work with Mallin Colorado), was fortunate to appear during the first day of activities in the news from Japan, while practicing Canadian canoe on the Shiribetsu River.

During the second day, Paula Christensen moderated the session on family business in tourism in front of about 30 people, all related to this topic and who have been working as a family for generations. The third day there were many important connections with foreign tour operators and travel agencies, in what is a very rich working relationship for Aysen Journeys in order to continue promoting the Carretera Austral destination for all of you, our travelers.

During the last day, we participated in meetings organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) aimed at ambassadors and leading tourism businessmen. Accompanied by Soledad Christensen, Paula and the other Chilean delegation was able to enjoy an exclusive dinner for 10 people, delighting in the specialties of the Tottori region, in southern Japan. The opportunity gave rise to connecting with a good group of journalists and influencers very interested in getting to know the Aysén region. They are very invited to travel with us!

Extraordinary event, extraordinary Japan!!

The event in Hokkaido also had the participation of businessmen from various parts of the world and the presence of the National Director of Sernatur, Cristóbal Benítez. During the Summit, various outdoor activities were carried out, such as Canadian canoeing, trekking and rafting. We were also surprised by Japanese gastronomy and culture, especially everything related to the temples that we saw in Tokyo before returning to Chile. Special mention of how delicious Sake is. There were barrels full of that alcoholic drink.
